Obituary

Richard Frye age 84 of Petersburg, Kentucky and formerly of Borden Indiana passed away Wednesday December 29, 2021. He was born in Gary Indiana to the late Virgil Frye and Edna Klein.

He served in the United States Navy from 1957 to 1961 as a Gunners Mate aboard the USS John Hood a Fletcher Class Destroyer based out of Norfolk Virginia. He traveled to many different parts of the world aboard ship and did several tours by way of the Mediterranean. He loved telling sea stories to his friends and family and anyone who thanked him for his service.

On February 18,1962 he married the love of his life Virginia (Jeannie) Lemon whom he cherished as they built a life together that lasted 51 years. And he stayed by her side until she left this earth in May of 2013.

After his military service Richard worked for National Cash Register where he was a service tech and manager for 33 years. He continued to work in the RV business for several years after retirement as a parts manager.

Of the many interests that he had, building model ships (don't ever call them a boat) and model trains kept him busy as well as perfecting some of the foods that his late wife was famous for. Richard also loved gardening, and caring for his pups, Peanut Tessie, and Patti.

Richard is survived by his daughters Cynthia (Kevin) Lovall of Hobart, Donna (Steve) Collins of Petersburg Ky. 9 grandchildren Nicole (Russ) Follis, Amber (Ryan) Sons, Brittany (Sam) Coombs, Kevin (Katie) Lovall, Kaitlyn (Johnny) Lambeth, Joshua (Alaina) Hagenseker, Matt (Allison) Collins, Jessica (Corey) Cole, and Cody Collins. And many nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family

Great grandchildren; Reed, Jack, and Henry Follis, Olivia and Lincoln Sons, Aedan and Ash Coombs, Noah Govert ,Harrison and Cooper Lovall, Lilliana Lambeth, Greyson, Teddy, Ben, Lincoln and Parker Hagenseker, Gabe and Bella Cole.

Brothers Milton (Donna) Klein, Frank (Cindy) Frye; sister Karen (Tom) Woodard and sisters in law Kim Klein, Kathy (Gordon) Schlosser, and brothers in law Chuck (Jill) Lemon, and Lee Roy (Karen) Lemon.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, parents Virgil Frye and Edna Klein. Brother John Klein, Parents in law Leroy and Sylvia Lemon, and sister in law Carol Lemon.

A funeral service for Richard will take place Friday January 7,2022 at 6:00 pm at Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel, 600 West Old Ridge Road, Hobart, Indiana. Pastor Fran Pultro officiating.
