HOBART, IN. Richard Orville (Giggles) Hagmann, age 84, born Jan 2, 1927 in Redfield, South Dakota. Passed away Oct. 23, 2011 in Hobart, Indiana. Served in occupation forces in Europe following WWII. Was employed as a master electrician by Tennessee Valley Authority. After retirement from TVA Richard worked in electrical construction in New York City (on World Trade Center & other projects). Served many years as volunteer in fire & rescue in various communities. In retirement served as live-in caregiver for persons with special care needs.
Preceded in death by parents, Florence & Bernard Hagmann, brothers Leo & Morell, wives Kitty Mae & Yvonda. Survived by sister Phyllis Hagmann of Stillwater, MN, brother Rev. Harlyn Hagmann of Minnetonka, MN, children Marvin (Linda) of Norman, OK, Cheryl Belcher (Ron) of Decatur, IL, Susan Hefley of Villa Grove, IL, Robert Hagmann (Helen), of Kempner, TX, Peggy Betancourt (Elmer) of Lake Fork, IL, Sandy McQuality of Springfield, IL, and companion Kay Wood, plus 13 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, many nieces , nephews and friends. A service will be held on Wednesday, November 2, 2011, 11:00am at the 1st Baptist Church of Lake Station, 1309 Central Avenue, Lake Station. There will also be a service on Friday, November 18, 2011, 11:00am at Douglas United Methodist Church, 501 South Douglas Ave., Springfield, IL. Burial of cremains will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery at 12:00pm.
