Richard Dwaine Marvin, age 85, of Hobart, passed away at home on Friday, June 9, 2017. He was born in Glen Park, Indiana, on March 20, 1932, to the late Harold and Margaretta (nee Parsons) Marvin. Richard married the love of his life, the late Elsie Mae (nee Erwin) Marvin, on May 15, 1954, in Hobart. He was a USX retiree, where he worked as an Electrical Forman; and proudly served his country in the United States Navy. Richard was a very active church member of Fellowship Baptist Church in Westville, enjoyed woodworking and fishing. He will be remembered as a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend.
Richard is survived by his three sons, Keith (Manny) Marvin of Westville, Robert (Adrienne) Marvin of Colorado, Brian Marvin of Florida; two daughters, Karen (Guy) Vallangeon of Porter and Mary Ann (Lee) Zweigle of Colorado; two brothers, Edward (Mary Ellen) Marvin of Tennessee and Ernest (Jackie) Marvin of Valparaiso; sister, Marjory (Ken) Baum of Ohio; 13 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren with three more on the way.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Elsie Mae Marvin; sister, Linda; and his parents.
A funeral service for Richard will take place Wednesday, June 14, 2017, at 11:00 am at Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel, 600 W. Old Ridge Rd. Hobart, IN 46342 with Rev. Mark Smith officiating and co. officiating Rev. Wesley Beckner. He will be laid to rest at Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery in Hobart.
