Richard L. Forrest, age 51, passed away Wednesday, May 16, 2018.  He was born in Gary, Indiana on January 25, 1967 to Charlene D. Van Gorp and the late Richard Lee Karwacinski. Rick worked for 30 years as a Millwright for Local #1076, formerly Local #1043, where he served as a steward, president and treasurer. He was a musician, magician, numismatist, and could do anything he put his mind to.   Rick will be remembered as a loving father, son, brother, uncle and friend and will be dearly missed.

Rick is survived by his son, Jerick L. Forrest; mother, Charlene D. Van Gorp; brother, Roy Forrest and sister, Dawn Villareal; former wife, Jeri Forrest; nieces and nephews, Stephanie (Scott), Heather, Cristy, Hailee, Joey, and Christopher; great nieces and great nephews, Jocelyn, Greg, David, Ashton, Jaden, Kira, and Kai; aunt, Geri Karwacinski; other family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Richard Lee Karwacinski.

A funeral service for Rick will take place Thursday, May 24, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Rees Funeral Home, Winfield Chapel, 10909 Randolph St. Winfield/Crown Point, Indiana 46307 with Rev. Jim Patten officiating. Visitation for Rick will take place Wednesday, May 23, 2018 from 2:00-8:00 p.m. at Rees Funeral Home, Winfield Chapel.
