Richard Sosa

Richard "Ritchie" Sosa, age 70, of Lake Station, passed away at home on Monday, January 08, 2018.  He was born in Gary, Indiana on May 8, 1947 to the late Vincent and Rita (nee Flores) Sosa. He was a devoted member to the Christian Assembly Church in Hobart.  He worked for US Steel.  Ritchie loved to cook and bake and was an avid Chicago Bears fan.  He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, brother, uncle and friend.

Ritchie is survived by his wife of 24 years, Penny Sosa; son, Vincent Sosa; daughter, Rachel Sosa; brothers, Manuel Fonseca, Victor "Cheno" (Gala) Aguilar, Thomas (Margaret) Aguilar, Robert (Barbara) Sosa, Rudolph Sosa, Harry (Elena) Sosa; sisters, Stella (Carl) Sosa Brown, Teresa Coleman, Victoria Mayol; sisters in law, Pat Sosa, Betty (Herman Chambliss) Potee, Vickie Frencl, Paula (Vincent) Verduzco; brothers in law, Dennis Gately, Walter (Wendy) Roop, Willie Roop; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Ralph Sosa; sisters, Jenny Lopez, Rachel Roop; father in law, Bill Roop; and brothers in law, Ross Roop, George Frencl, Sr.

A funeral service for Ritchie will be held on Friday, January 12, 2018 at 11:00 am with Rev. Mike Macchia, Jr. officiating at Christian Assembly Church, 7498 Grand Blvd. Hobart, IN 46342.  Visitation will take place Thursday, January 11, 2018 from 2-7 pm at Rees Funeral Home, 600 W.
