Rick Lee Olson, age 57, of Lake Station passed away unexpectedly at Southlake Methodist Hospital in Merrillville. Rick was born February 13, 1957 in Gary, Indiana to the late Herbert and Mary Susan (Faulke) Olson. Rick loved fishing, hunting, cooking and playing with his grandchildren. Rick was a heavy equipment operator for the city of Lake Station that retired in 2013.

Rick is survived by his loving wife Mary Ann Olson; his son Ricky (Chasitty Arseneau) of Lake Station, daughter Jill Olson of Gary; two step daughters Samantha (Rocky) Faragoi of LaPorte and Jessica Mathews of LaPorte; five grandchildren Mariah Olson, Adalyn Olson, Zoey Faragoi, Diamond (Craig) Wellman and James B. Pullins; a great grandson Riley Wellman; his stepmother Bonnie Olson of Knox; eleven brothers and sisters Glory (Paul) Hughes of North Carolina, Henrietta Lopez of Missouri, Charlotte (Noel) Johnson of Arizona, Thomas (Vicki) Olson of Chesterton, Archie Olson of Alabama, Tim (Kay) Olson of Valparaiso, Gary (Patricia) Winters of Michigan, Candy Napier of Valparaiso, Debbie (Robert) Yetsko of Hobart, Susan Olson of Lake Station and Joe (Denise) Olson of Texas; and many nieces and nephews.

Rick was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter Dawn Pullins; and one brother Dayle Olson.

Visitation will be from 2-7 pm Wednesday January 14, 2015 at Rees Funeral Home, 600 W. Old Ridge Road Hobart, Indiana. Funeral services will follow at 7 pm on Wednesday.
