Robert E. Belshaw, Sr., age 78, of Portage passed away Monday, March 31, 2025, at home surrounded by his family. He was born on December 5, 1946, in Missouri to the late Earl and Myrtle Belshaw. On May 18, 1968, he married the love of his life, Cassandra Padlo in Gary, Indiana. He graduated from Indiana University Northwest, where he received a bachelor's degree in business. He served his country as a member of the United States Army Reserves. Bob was employed as a supervisor in the steel industry. He enjoyed tinkering with cars and formerly owned his own brake shop. He was an avid sports fan and would watch anything sports related, including NASCAR racing and golf. Bob especially cherished the time he spent watching basketball with his granddaughter, Carrie. His greatest joy in life was the time he spent with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He is survived by his daughters, Connie (Greg) Prohl, Amanda (Steve) Rosenbaum; grandchildren, Katie (Cody Luke) Prohl, Greg (Abby) Prohl, Carrie Prohl, Cassie Prohl, Danny Prohl, Stacia (Nathan) Rice, Stephanie (Jordan) Gilbert, Emily Rosenbaum, Ashlee Smithers, Robbie Belshaw, and Drew Belshaw; great grandchildren, Sophia, Bradley, Scarlett and Ellie.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Myrtle Belshaw; his beloved wife of 55 years, Cassandra Belshaw; and his son, Robert E. Belshaw, Jr.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Bob's name may be made to VNA Hospice Foundation, 501 Marquette Street, Valparaiso, IN 46383.

Visitation for Bob will be held Friday, April 4, 2025, from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel, 5341 Central Ave., Portage. Cremation will follow visitation.
