Robert Marvin "Bob" Dayhoff, age 84 of Portage passed away Monday, February 5, 2018. He was born on December 8, 1933 in Hammond, Indiana to the late Endon and Gladys Dayhoff. He graduated from Griffith High School and went on to serve his country in the U.S. Army. Bob retired from Nipsco. He was a member of the Griffith First United Methodist Church. Bob loved fishing and taking his family on fishing trips to Wisconsin.
He is survived by his wife, Gail Dayhoff of Portage, IN; two sons, Michael (Peggy) Dayhoff of Lauderdale By The Sea, FL; Scott (Sharon) Dayhoff of Longwood, FL; one daughter, Jill (Brian) Banning of Crown Point, IN; five sisters, Patricia (Hamm) Huber of Crown Point, IN; Diane (the late Jim) Whitted of Crown Point, IN; Barbara (Bob) Stassin of Hammond, IN; Sharon (Frank) Rossa of Crown Point, IN; Marylynn (Les) Easto of Crown Point, IN; five grandchildren, Patrick, Brendan, and Cindy Dayhoff, Michael and Emily Banning, two great-grandchildren, Dylan and Bryan Banning, five stepchildren, Rocco (Bobbie) Pavese, Tawny (Murray) Jones, Tambi (Mark) Schramm, Tracy (Andy) Robinson, Tory (Josh) Krause, 10 step-grandchildren, and 17 step-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Juanita Dayhoff, and one brother, Endon Dayhoff.
Funeral services are Friday, February 9, 2018 at 11 a.m. at Rees Funeral Home, 600 W. Old Ridge Road, Hobart with Rev. Charles Strietelmeier officiating. Burial will follow at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, Schererville. Visitation is Thursday February 8, 2018 from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel.
