Robert” Bob” Gray Jr.

Age 72 of Valparaiso passed away Wednesday, March 11, 2026, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on July 26, 1953, in Hammond Indiana to the late Robert and Shirley (nee Schachte) Gray Sr. Bob dedicated many years of his career as a IT specialist at Arcelor Mittal, where he was known for his knowledge and passion for technology.

Bob had a deep love for his family and treasured the time he spent with them. He especially enjoyed traveling together to places like Hawaii, California, and Florida, creating memories that will be cherished forever. His grandchildren meant the world to him, and he loved every moment he spent with them.

Bob had many interests that reflected his curious and creative spirit. He had a passion for woodworking and enjoyed building things with his hands. He was also a big dog lover and found great companionship with them. One of his favorite pastimes was maintaining his aquariums, both saltwater and fresh water, which he took great pride in.

He also enjoyed relaxing and watching westerns, especially the series Yellowstone. Above all, Bob had a true passion for anything high-tech and was always fascinated by the latest technology and innovations.

Bob is survived by his wife, Debbie Gray; son, Eric Gray; daughter, Dawn (Mark) Matasic; grandchildren, Bella and Aubrey Matasic; two brothers David (Christine) Gray, James Gray; sister, Melodie Valach; niece, Alyssa (Nick) Bauhan; nephew, Jason Coker; sisters-in-laws, Marilyn Hallmark and Cindy (John) Grindstaff; best friend, John Sinclaire; his fur babies, Luke, Leia, and Mickey; numerous other nieces, nephews and other loving family members and friends.

Bob is preceded in death by his parents and brothers Randall and Ricky Gray.
