Robert D. Burkhart, age 87, of Hobart passed away on Tuesday, August 31, 2021. He was born on January 26, 1934 in Gary, Indiana to the late Leroy and Elsie Burkhart. He married his beloved wife, Karen in Glen Park in 1954 and worked as a union bricklayer for 45 years. Robert enjoyed his Corvette and belonged to the Valpo Vette Club.

He is survived by his son, Terry R. (Janet) Burkhart; daughter, Diane (James) Mink; grandchildren, Stacy (Mike) Newlin, Jeff Peek, Glenn (Amy) Henningfield; great grandchildren, Tyler Newlin, Ashley Henningfield and Sarah Heming.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Karen (nee Sederberg) Burkhart in 1987. Memorial contributions in Robert's name may be made to the American Cancer Society, 5635 W. 96th Street, Suite 100, Indianapolis, IN 46278.

A private funeral service for Robert will take place at Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel, 600 West Old Ridge Road, Hobart. He will be laid to rest at Calumet Park Cemetery in Merrillville.
