Robert Andrew "Butch" Needs, age 63 of Portage passed away Tuesday, March 19, 2013. He was born on October 14, 1949 in Gary, Indiana. Robert "Butch" was a lifelong Portage resident and a member of Nativity of Our Savior Church. He retired from U.S. Steel Gary works where he had worked as a Crane Operator. Robert enjoyed traveling and cars.
He is survived by his wife, Kathy Needs of Portage, IN; 1 son, Robert Needs Jr. of Portage, IN; 2 daughters, Roberta (William) Poznanski of Valparaiso, IN; Patricia Needs of Portage, IN; his mother, Helen Needs of Portage, IN; 1 sister, Margaret Zinn of Hebron, IN; 2 step-daughters, Valerie (Michael) Sobczak of Portage, IN; Candace (Brian) Luttman of Churubusco, IN; 2 grandchildren, Derek and Allison, 3 step-grandchildren, Summer, Michael, and Alex, 1 niece and 3 nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, William Needs and 1 nephew.
Funeral services are Friday, March 22, 2013 at 10 a.m. at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel, 5341 Central Ave., Portage with Rev. Andrew Corona officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Portage. Visitation is Thursday March 21, 2013 from 2p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel.
