Robert E. Daves, age 65, a longtime resident of Hobart, passed away on Wednesday, April 11, 2012, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on January 7, 1947 in Gary, the son of Roy and Thelma Daves. Robert was married to Linda Johnson on June 30, 1994 in Crown Point and they have celebrated 21 wonderful years together. Robert worked in mechanical maintenance for J V Crane and Engineering. He was a member of the First Church of Hobart, he enjoyed going camping and fishing, and loved to be with his family.

Robert is survived by his loving family; wife Linda R. Daves, Hobart, daughters Donna (Steve) Koselke, Wanatah, Michelle (Jason) Merkel, Highland, Ramona (Jeff) Maxey, Valparaiso, Alice (David) Stump, Valparaiso, and Leona (Norby) Jakel, Valparaiso, 13 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, brother Randall Daves, California, 2 aunts, and other loving family and dear friends. Robert was preceded in death by his parents Roy and Thelma Daves, 2 grandchildren, and his brother Gale Daves.

A visitation for Robert Daves will be held from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm on Sunday, April 15, 2012 at Rees Funeral Home – Hobart Chapel, 600 West Old Ridge Road, Hobart. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 am on Monday, April 16, 2012 at Rees Funeral Home with Pastor Frank Bounds and Pastor John Barley, co-officiating. Burial will be at Angelcrest Cemetery in Valparaiso. Memorials in Robert's memory may be made to the First Church of Hobart.
