Obituary

Robert E. "Bob" Gannon, age 79, of LaPorte and formerly of Valparaiso passed away Monday September 1, 2014 at the Porter Regional Hospital in Valparaiso. Robert was born October 4, 1934 in East Gary to the late Lloyd Olin and Minna Helen (Snapp) Gannon. Bob worked for the Budd Company, retired as a security guard for Porter Memorial Hospital, was a reserve officer for the Porter County Sheriff's Department, was a volunteer firefighter in East Gary/ Lake Station, and served three years in the Indiana National Guard. Bob was a member of the Indiana Volunteer Firefighter's Association.

Bob is survived by his loving wife of 60 years B. Rosemary Gannon; his son Robert J. Gannon of North Liberty; his daughter Rosann (Robert) Gordon of LaPorte; two brothers Ralph (Carroll) Gannon of Adams, TN and Douglas (Bonnie) Gannon of Portland, TN; one sister Mary (George) Bush of Portland, TN; six grandchildren Robert (Katy) Gordon, Rachel (Tim) Prichard, Shaun Gannon, Travis Wilson, Megan (Bryan) Priest and Alison Gannon; two great grandchildren Gabriella Prichard and Kathleen Priest; many nieces and nephews; and many other people that called him dad and grandpa.

Bob was preceded in death by his son Raymond E. Gannon, his parents, and one brother Jerry Gannon.

A memorial visitation will be held Sunday September 7, 2014 from 2-8 pm at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel 5341 Central Avenue Portage, Indiana.

Bob's ashes will be buried in Graceland Cemetery in Kouts at a later date.

Memorial donations are requested to the Lake Station Volunteer Fire Department 1876 Fairview Avenue, Lake Station, IN 46405 in lieu of flowers.
