Obituary

Robert "Bob" L. Emerson, age 94, of Sheboygan, Wisconsin, formerly of Portage, passed away Friday, September 29, 2017. He was born in Chicago, Illinois on March 6, 1923 to the late Douglas and Alta (nee Horne) Emerson. Bob proudly served his country in WWII from 1943-1946 in the U.S. Army. He enjoyed photography and bowling and was an avid Chicago Bears and Cubs fan.
Bob is survived by son, Gregory (Gloria) Emerson; daughter in law, Barbara Emerson; and grandchildren, Douglas, Nina, Geoff (Lizzie), and Kent (Brenda) Emerson.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, of 36 years, Marge (nee Jaeger) Emerson; late wife, Evelyn (nee Horne) Emerson; son, Geoffrey Emerson; brothers, Jack, Donald, and Ted Emerson; sister, Dorothy Mae Ruark; step brother, Jim Burke; and his parents.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the National MS Society, P.O. Box 4527, New York, NY 10163.
A funeral service for Bob will take place Thursday, October 5, 2017 at 1:00 pm at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel, 5341 Central Ave. Portage, IN 46368 with Rev. Charles R. Strietelmeier officiating. He will be laid to rest at Chapel Lawn Cemetery, Schererville. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 10:00 am until the time of service at the funeral home.
