ROBERT A. HEPLER, 78, of Chesterton, and formerly a longtime Lake Station resident, died on Monday, May 26, 2014. Robert worked at US Steel as a Superintendent in the Sheet and Tin Mill until his retirement in 1984. He enjoyed taking fishing charters and family fishing vacations. He was a member of American Legion 260 Horseshoe League and will be remembered as a big Cubs fan. He will be deeply missed.

He is survived by his 3 sons, Jason of Lake Station, Michael (Kim) of Deltona, FL, and Robert Jr. of Michigan City; daughter, Sharon (James) Patton of Lake Station; 7 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren; special friend and mother of his children, Carolyn Hepler.

He was preceded in death by his son, Jeffrey; parents, Woodrow and Olive June Hepler; brother, David Hepler; and sister, Sharon Hepler.

A funeral service for Robert will be Thursday, May 29, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at Rees Funeral Home, Brady Chapel, 3781 Central Ave., Lake Station. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
