Robert A. Johnson, age 90 of Hobart passed away Wednesday, April 10, 2013. He was born on March 18, 1923 in Donovan, Illinois to the late Arno and Ruth Johnson. He was a Northwest Indiana area resident since 1941 and was formerly of Morocco, Indiana. Robert was a member of the Hobart First United Methodist Church and Choir and the Chorus of the Dunes. He retired from the EJ and E railroad in 1985 after 42 years of service. Robert served his country in WWII in the U.S. Army. He was a member of the American Legion Post # 146 in Morocco, Indiana.
He is survived by his loving wife, Bonnie M. Johnson (nee Scamihorn) of Hobart, IN; 2 sons, Keith E. Johnson of Porter, IN; Richard A. (Steven Engles) Johnson of Chicago, IL; 1 brother, Warren C. Johnson of Morocco, IN; 5 grandchildren, Bradley, Blake, Benjamin, Sara, and Christopher, and 2 great-grandchildren, Camden and Quinn.
He was preceded in death by his son, Mark A. Johnson, 1 grandson, Brandon and 1 sister, Shirley R. Forberg.
Funeral services are Saturday, April 13, 2013 at 10 a.m. at Rees Funeral Home, 600 West Old Ridge Road, Hobart. Burial will follow at Calumet Park Cemetery, Merrillville.
