Robert D. Marsee, age 84, passed away Thursday, January 10, 2013 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Robert was born on February 18, 1928 in Hammond, Indiana the son of the late Samuel and Evelyn (nee Golden) Marsee. Robert was a 43 year resident of Merrillville and has spent the last 12 years as a resident of Hebron, Indiana. On August 21, 1957 Robert married the love of his life Barbara L. Williams in Crown Point. Robert was retired from the Hobart Corporation, in Illinois and had worked for 30 years at Simmons in Munster. He enjoyed being a Ranger for the Oak Knoll and Indian Ridge golf courses. He proudly served his country in the United States Army Air Corps and was an Elder at Christ Community Church in Hobart. Robert enjoyed playing golf and bowling at Merri-Bowl and Stardust bowling alley where he was known as the "Silver Fox". Robert is survived by his loving wife: Barbara; sons: Robert (Paula) Olderwald of Lansing, IL, Tim (Patty) Marsee of Lake Station, IN, David (Cindy) Marsee of Hebron, IN, Scott (Rosemary) Marsee of St. John, IN and Darren Marsee of Lowell, IN; daughters: Deborah Burris of Las Vegas, NV, Terry (Donnie) Caldwell of Smithville, TN, Lisa (Herald) Van Hook of Lowell, IN.; 17 grand children: Anthony, Stephanie, Brian, David, Corey, Cody, Robb, Justin, Lauren, Kayla, Meagan, Kimberly, Shannon, Mathew, Josh, Zach, Shane: 6 great- grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren; brother: George "Butch" Hugg of Lansing, IL.; sisters: Shirley (Dick) Brausch of Tucson, AZ and Carol (Gary) Tryon of Highland, IN.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Jack Marsee and sister-in-law, Charlotte Marsee. Funeral Services for Robert will be Thursday, January 17, 2013 at 10:00 am with Pastor Steve Buchelt officiating, at Rees Winfield Chapel, 10909 Randolph, Winfield, IN. 46307. Burial at Graceland Cemetery, Valparaiso, Indiana. Visitation will be Wednesday, January 16, 2013 from 2:00-8:00 pm at Rees Funeral Home, Winfield Chapel. Call 219-661-2600.
