Robert J Miller, age 67, of Portage, passed away Monday, February 22, 2016. He was born on February 26, 1948 to the late Fred Anthony Miller and Jean Marie (nee Robert) Miller. He worked at AT&T and Lucent Technologies. Robert was a 1966 graduate of Lew Wallace High School and proudly served his country in the Presidential Squadron in the United States Air Force from 1967 to 1971. He enjoyed spending his time with his family and friends at Bass Lake and feeding the birds and squirrels. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend.
He is survived by his wife, Susan (nee Young) Miller of Portage; son, Mark (Elaina) Miller of Valparaiso; three daughters, Amber Miller of Portage, June Kimmel of Hanna, and Kim (Jesse) Harty of Westville; nine grandchildren, Luke and Jake Miller, Sadie Spratley, Brock and Nolan Harty, Landon and Gage Miller and Zak and Elle Kimmel; brother, Michael (Dianna) Miller of Portage; four sisters, Nancy (Terry) Grinage of Bass Lake, Jeanette (George) Horton of Valparaiso, Lori (Robby) Robb of Portage and Barbara Rocha; mother-in-law, Nola Mainwaring of Pennsylvania and many other loving family members and friends.
Robert is preceded in death by his parents, son-in-law, Richard Kimmel and brothers-in-law, Gabriel Rocha and Jack Pierce and father-in-law, Morris Mainwaring.
A funeral service for Robert will be held Saturday, February 27, 2016 at 10am at Rees Funeral Home, 5341 Central Ave, Portage, Indiana 46368 . Burial will take place at Angel Crest in Valparaiso.
