Robert P. Rodgers

Robert “Bob” Rodgers, age 91, of Hobart, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 17, 2026. He was born on February 12, 1935, in Altoona, Pennsylvania, to the late Foster and Dorothy Rodgers.

Bob proudly served his country in the United States Army. Following his military service, he built a long and dedicated career at U.S. Steel, retiring as a systems analyst. He was a faithful and active member of Augustana Lutheran Church, serving as their financial secretary for over 20 years.

A talented artist with a patient and creative spirit, Bob especially enjoyed carving intricate games and puzzles out of wood. His craftsmanship brought joy to many, and his quiet dedication to his hobbies reflected the steady, thoughtful man he was.

He is survived by his loving children: David (Diane) Rodgers, Donald (Jan) Rodgers, and Lori (Brad) Galbraith; grandchildren: Derek Rodgers, Danielle (Mike) Dudek, Dustin (Amanda) Rodgers, and Jamie Bogdan; brother, John Rodgers; sister-in-law, Patty Rodgers; along with many cherished nieces, nephews, and friends.

Bob was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Doris Rodgers, and his grandson, Jonathan Bogdan; brother, Fred Rodgers; sister-in-law, Mary Rodgers.

Memorial contributions in Bob’s name may be made to Augustana Lutheran Church, 207 Kelly Street, Hobart, IN 46342.

Visitation for Bob will be held Friday, February 20, 2026, from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel, 600 West Old Ridge Road, Hobart. A funeral service will take place Saturday, February 21, 2026, at 10:00 am at Augustana Lutheran Church, 207 Kelly St., Hobart, IN 46342. He will be laid to rest at Calumet Park Cemetery in Merrillville.
