ROBERT W. "BOB" THOMPSON, age 86, of Hobart, passed away Wednesday, October 20, 2010 at St. Mary Medical Center in Hobart. Bob had been a Hobart resident for 20 years and retired industrial engineer from Inland Steel. He was a 1943 graduate of Emerson High School and served in the US Army during WW II. Bob was a member of Real Life Community Church in Portage.
He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Shirley (Zelenka) Thompson, 3 sons, Terry Thompson and Thomas (Kathy) Thompson, both of Merrillville, and Randy (Kelly) Thompson of Pueblo, Colorado, 5 grandchildren: Christopher, Sarah, Ryan, Michael and Jennifer, 3 great grandchildren, brother, Vaughn "Ed" Thompson of Star City, IN. He was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Amber Thompson.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 23, 2010 at 2:00 pm at Rees Funeral Home, 600 W. Old Ridge Road, Hobart, with Pastor Bob Burton officiating. Cremation will follow the services.
