Robert Edwin Urban, age 94 of Portage passed away Thursday, May 18, 2023.  He was born on December 7, 1928, in Gary, Indiana to the late Edwin and Julia Urban.  He graduated from Emerson High School.  He served his country in the U.S. Army in the Korean Conflict. Robert worked in numerous Lumber Yards, Home Depot, and Handy Andy in Construction Sales.

Robert loved golfing and bowling at Ray's Lanes and Stardust.  He also loved to fish and enjoyed his time in Arkansas and Wisconsin.

He is survived by one son, Robert (Libbi) Urban. two daughters, Amy (David) Bolla, Jill Urban, six grandchildren, Jacob (Ivory) Urban, Jessica (David) Silberberg, Tyler, David, and Sam Bolla, Renee (Matt Katke) Bolla, eight great-grandchildren, Conrad, Bryson, Ashton, Alexander, Benjamin, Emma, Elle, and Nina.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents, and one sister, Eleanor Peters.

Cremation will take place with Rees Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Hobart.  Memorial Service will be Monday June 5, 2023, at 12:30 pm at Rees Funeral Home, 600 W. Old Ridge Road, with Chaplain Allen Wright officiating.  Burial of cremains will follow at Calumet Park Cemetery, Merrillville.  Memorial visitation is just prior to the service from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm at Rees Funeral Home, Hobart.
