Robert W. Barrow, lovingly known as Brother Bill, age 86 of New Chicago passed away Friday, September 4, 2015. He was born on December 2, 1928 to the late Robert Vernon and Bernice Barrow. He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and rose to the rank of Sargent. Brother Bill loved the Lord and faithfully served his congregation of the First Baptist Church of New Chicago for over 45 years. He loved people and wanted to make sure everyone was saved and going to Heaven. Brother Bill also enjoyed singing and playing his guitar at church services. He also enjoyed fishing, playing softball, watching football and basketball and in his younger years he played high school football and basketball. He also loved animals, especially his pets, Lady, Prissy, Diego, Sarah, Sadie, Maddie, and Thor. He will be remembered by his family and friends as a loving, kind, compassionate, sweet, hardworking and dedicated servant of God.
He is survived by his wife of over 65 years, Betty Barrow, one son, Mike (Marisa) Barrow, one daughter, Kim (Perry) Gamble all of New Chicago, IN; two granddaughters "Paw Paw's girls", Salena Barrow, and Erica (David) Stephens, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by three sisters, Lillian Lane, Opal Burney, and Frances Graves.
Funeral services are Wednesday, September 9, 2015 at 12 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of New Chicago, 401 Huber Blvd, Hobart with Rev. Donald Good and Rev. Billy Sampson officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Portage. Visitation is Tuesday, September 8, 2015 from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of New Chicago.
