Robert Wayne Richards

Age 68, passed away Wednesday, September 4, 2013 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Robert was born on December 24, 1944 in Ginter, Pennsylvania to the late Carl and Sarah (McIntyre) Richards. Bob was a 1963 Alumni Shaw High School graduate and proudly served his country in the United States Army. Bob retired from the University of Chicago Police department in 2009; he received numerous awards of recognition for his work with the U of C Police Dept. and the Southeast Chicago Commission. He served on many committees for CAPS and other organizations.
Bob is survived by his beloved wife of 35 yrs. Sandra "Sandie" (nee Swensen) Richards, three children; Maryanne (David) Rearick, Jason (Sharon) Greiner and Robert C. Richards, eight grandchildren; Brittany, Sebastian, Jordan, Cheyenne, Christian, Joshua, Jason and Jeremiah, three sisters; Elizabeth Gallo of Pennsylvania, Eleanor "Sissy" (Tony) Carcioppolo of California and Carol (Fred) Taskes of Ohio, two brothers; William Richards of Ohio and Carl J (Becki) Richards of Florida, many nieces and nephews and other loving family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and two sisters; Dorothy Carter and Martha Jane Carcioppolo.
Celebration of Life service will be Sunday, September 8, 2013 at 10:00 am at Rees Funeral Home, 600 W. Old Ridge Rd., Hobart. Burial will follow at IOOF Cemetery in Brisban, PA.
