Roger Dale Best

Roger Dale Best, age 75, of Lake Station, Indiana passed away Monday January 29, 2024, at St Mary Medical Center in Hobart. He was born November 26, 1948, in New Albany to William Harold and Ruth Marie (Lohman) Best. Roger worked forty years for Georgia Pacific as an electrician he also worked four years for Werner Trucking Company. He loved hunting, fishing, and playing the Lottery. Roger enjoyed family get togethers and riding his motorcycle. Roger was a member of the Sons of the American Legion Post #100.

He is survived by his six children, Rosie (JR) Guel, Theresa Sailors, Michelle (Jeff) Flory, Tanya (Melvin) Hammons, Roger (Linda) Best, Billy (Amanda) Best; his brother, Edward Best of Oklahoma; his sister, Linda Allen of New Albany; 24 grandchildren; 38 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his loving wife of fifty-seven years Martha Jane Best; stepdaughter Maryann Soria; mother, Ruth Marie Best; father, William Harold Best; brother, Jessie A. Best; and sisters, Barbara Fulps and Sue Carpenter.

Funeral Services for Roger will be conducted at 5 pm Saturday February 3, 2024, at Rees Funeral Home 600 W. Old Ridge Road Hobart, Indiana with Pastor J.J. Hairston officiating. Visitation for Roger will be held Saturday from 3-5 pm at the Funeral Home.
