Roger Thomas Powell, age 61 a Hobart resident for the past 13 years passed away Wednesday, October 26, 2022.  He was born on September 10, 1961 in Dolton, Illinois to the late George and Gerry Powell.  While attending High School, Roger was a Varsity Diver.  He retired from Arcelor Mittal where he had worked as a Crane Operator.  He was a member of the Hobart Eagles.  Roger loved riding his motorcycle, watching Chicago sports, and rock and roll.  He was a devoted husband and father.  He loved playing with his grandchildren every chance he got.  He had the best sense of humor.  Roger was the "Rock" of the family and a "Happy Camper".

He is survived by his wife of over 32 years, Roxanne Powell, four children, Wendy (Matt) Estomo of Portage, IN; Carrie (Kyle) Doan of Hobart, IN; Diane Powell of Lake Station, IN; Kevin (Kaylee Everhart) Powell of Hobart, IN, and five grandchildren, Cassandra, Lydia, Lucy, Charlotte, and Jence.

Funeral services are Tuesday, November 1, 2022 at 3 p.m. at Rees Funeral Home, 600 West Old Ridge Road, Hobart.  Cremation will follow the services.  Visitation is Tuesday, November 1, 2022, from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. at Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel.  (219) 942-2109.
