Ronald E. Ellison, age 78, of Portage passed away Sunday August 24, 2014 in his home surrounded by his family. Ronald was born August 17, 1936 in Hammond, Indiana to John William and Sally Mae (Thompson) Ellison. Ronald retired as a security guard for NBD First Chicago Bank. Ronald enjoyed Nascar and used to race stock cars at Illiana Motor Raceway. He also enjoyed camping.

Ronald is survived by his wife Florence of Portage; his six daughters Rhonda, Debbie, Marilyn, Carolyn, Jeralyn and Jacklyn; special step daughter Michelle (Allen) Hamilton of Hobart; two step sons Alan (Lidia) DeMass of Portage and Dean DeMass of Hobart; two brothers-in-law Anthony (Donna) Favia and Timothy (Beckie) Favia; 16 grandchildren including his special grandsons Seth and Noah; 18 great grandchildren; 3 nieces and a nephew.

Ronald was preceded in death by his parents, his son Bruce and his brother William.

Ronald will be cremated and have no attended services per his wishes. Rees Funeral Home, 600 West Old Ridge Road assisted Ronald's family with services.
