Ronald Lloyd Magruder, age 59 of Hobart, IN passed away Thursday, October 6, 2011. He was born on February 28, 1952 to the late Raymond Sr. and June Magruder. He was employed by Cargill Steel and Wire of East Chicago, IN. He was previously employed at LaSalle Steel in Hammond, IN. He was a veteran of the Vietnam era and a member of American Legion Post 168 of Hammond, IN.
He is survived by his life partner of 37 years, Harold Porter, brothers; Bill (Pat) Magruder, Ralph (Katie) Magruder, Richard (Zita) Magruder of Kankakee, IL, sisters; Carol (Duane) Higginbotham of Bonfield, IL, Margie (Weaver) Williams of Charlotte, NC, Judy (Bill) Hamilton of Manteno, IL, Nola (John) Chisum of Bourbonnais, IL, Janet (Keith) Ahrens of Kankakee, IL, Darlene McCoin of Kankakee, IL and Arlene Turner of Danforth, IL, special Aunt Blanche and Uncle Harold Howe of Niles, MI, cousins, Bill and Kathie Howe of Lakeland, FL, numerous nieces and nephews, and special friends Joyce and Ray Snow.
Ron will be missed by many of his friends. We will miss his sense of humor and his loving and caring personality. Ron has a great love for his dog, Poppy.
A graveside service for Ron will be held on Monday, October 10, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Bloom's Grove Cemetery, Manteno, IL. A visitation will be on Sunday, October 9, 2011 from 2:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Rees Funeral Home 600 W. Old Ridge Road, Hobart, IN. For more information, please call 219-942-2109.
