Ronald Earl Martin, age 81, passed away surrounded by his family at his home in Valparaiso. He was born March 22, 1931 in Morgantown, West Virginia to Earl A. and Mary S. (Furman) Martin. He married Lorraine Vinton-Haas November 22, 1959 in Lake Station. He retired from the Operating Engineers Local Union #150. He was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose Hobart Lodge #783, Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie # 2498, Hobart American Legion Post #54, and Hobert VFW Post #5365. He was very active in Scouting.
He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years Lorraine Martin, son Tim Martin (Sheila) of Valparaiso, two daughters Mary Martin of Valparaiso and Kathy (Jeff) Watz of Coldwater, MI, seven grandchildren Tim Martin, Jr., Candice Hernandez, Nicole Burkhanov, Kenny Ward, Keifer Lah, Kourtney Lah, and Kaitlyn Watz, and several great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents Earl and Mary Martin, one sister Elma Beer, and several other beloved relatives.
Visitation will be held Tuesday July 10, 2012 from 2-8 pm at Rees Funeral Home Hobart Chapel 600 W. Old Ridge Road Hobart, IN 46342 with American Legion Memorial Services at 7:00 pm and Fraternal Order of Eagle Memorial Services. Funeral Services will be Wednesday July 11, 2012 at 11:00 am with Rev. Richard Boshoven officiating. Entombment will follow in Graceland Mausoleum Valparaiso, IN.
