RONALD D. SCHAU, age 77, of Hobart, passed away Monday, January 5, 2015 at Saint Mary Medical Center. He was born in Valparaiso on December 14, 1937 to Clyde and Pearle Schau. Ron served in the US Army and then in the US Army reserves. He worked in the auto industry and most recently was employed at Shaver Preferred Motors. Ron belonged to Hilltop Church of Christ and was active on their board and in their Men's Group. He was a huge Cubs fan, a season ticket holder to Valparaiso University basketball games and enjoyed sports of all kinds. He will be remembered as a kind man who was a wonderful father and grandfather.

Ron is survived by his 2 sons, Ronald D. Schau of GA and Scott D. (Holly) Schau; 2 daughters, Shari Schau of FL and Taryn Manahan of Hammond; 2 stepsons, Charles L. (Sandra) Rawdon and family of FL, and David L. Rawdon and family of TX; 2 grandchildren, Aidan and Connor; 2 brothers, Charles (Arlene) Schau of W. Lafayette and Kenneth (Lois) Schau of Plymouth; 2 sisters, Beverly (Clifford) Fackler of Crown Point and Judy Schau of Valparaiso; nieces, nephews and other loving family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Juanita; his parents; brothers, Richard and David and sister, Phyllis Miller.

A funeral service for Ron will be Thursday, January 8, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel, 600 W. Old Ridge Rd., with Minister Matthew French officiating. Burial will follow at Graceland Cemetery.
