Rosa Jesús Gomez

Rosa Jesús Gomez (nee Mosqueda), age 93, of Portage, Indiana passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Wednesday, August 14, 2024. She was born on November 4, 1930, in East Chicago, Indiana to the late Luis and Maria DeJesus Mosqueda.

Rosa is survived by her six children, Adeline (Carlos Jr.) Escabalzeta, George (Karen) Gomez, Carmelo (Joy) Gomez, Jr., Rose (Arnold) Alaniz, Lydia Gomez, Theresa Gomez: daughter-in-law, Maria "Terry" Gomez; 24 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Mary Randazzo, Consuelo "Connie" Vela; brother, Fernando "Canoe" Mosqueda; many loving nieces and nephews.

Rosa was preceded in death by her loving husband Carmelo Gomez; two sons, Albert Gomez, Victor Gomez; parents, Luis and Maria Mosqueda; stepfather Arturo Vasquez; brothers Manuel "Mouse" Mosqueda, Ramiro Mosqueda, Rudy "Pecas" Mosqueda; sisters Mary Antonia Diaz, and Dolores Vela.

Rosa touched so many lives with her love, kindness and quick wit. She was a truly great woman and a generous soul. Knowing her was a blessing and she will be missed by all who love her.  She was a champion bingo player, a diehard Cubs fan, an avid reader, and a card shark. Rosa's greatest love was her family who will forever hold her in their hearts. "Other things may change us, but we start and end with family."

Visitation for Rosa will be held Tuesday, August 20, 2024, from 2:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel, 5341 Central Ave., Portage. Mass of Christian Burial will take place Wednesday, August 21, 2024, at 11:00 am at Nativity of Our Savior Catholic Church, 2949 Willowcreek Road, Portage with prayers starting at the funeral home at 10:15 am.
