Roy Bryant Goodwin

age 76 of Valparaiso passed away Friday, December 18, 2020 surrounded by his loving family. Roy was born on February 8, 1944 in Forrest City Arkansas to the late Josh and Carrie (nee McDaniel) Goodwin. He married the love of his life Bobbie Jean Neeley on her eighteenth birthday, June 25, 1965 in Whiting, Indiana.  He was a 1963 graduate of Horace Mann High School, and a former member of Valparaiso Nazarene Church in Valparaiso, Indiana. He retired from Inland Steel in 2000 where he worked as a steelworker. He was a very talented wood worker and made beautiful things for his wife and family. He will be remembered as a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. Roy is survived by his wife of 55 yrs. Bobbie Goodwin; son, Russell (Jennifer) Goodwin; daughter, Tamatha Goodwin; sister, Lu (Dick) Hanna; five grandchildren, Dakota, Ryleigh, Jade, Jerron and Nolan; special nephew, Ronnie Dees and many other loving family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.

A memorial service for Roy will be held  Saturday, May 29,2021 at noon at Rees Funeral Home 600 West Old Ridge Road, Hobart, Indiana 46342. Visitation will be Saturday, May 29,2021 from 10:00 a.m. until time of service also at Rees funeral Home, Hobart Chapel.
