Roy Warren Imboden

Roy Warren Imboden of Hobart passed away Friday, December 15, 2017. He was born on November 16, 1931 in Gary, Indiana to Clyde L. and Eleanor (nee Wright) Imboden. Roy graduated from Lew Wallace High School in 1949 and proudly served in the United States Navy from 1950-1954.  He graduated from Indiana University with a bachelor degree in 1957, and worked as a chemist at Inland Steel for over 30 years.

Roy will be remembered as a loving, devoted father, husband, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend.  He enjoyed sharing his military and travel experiences with his family and friends.  He was a giving, compassionate man and made those around him feel loved and welcome.  Roy was a hard-working man who loved to laugh and be surrounded by his family.  He will be missed, however, we will "endeavor to persevere" as he encouraged and quoted to us many times.

Roy is survived by his four sons, Alan (Cheryl) Imboden, Clyde (Patty) Imboden, Karl (Lori) Imboden and Derek (Jean) Imboden; daughter, Roseanne (Bruce) Doege; two brothers, Hank and Jerry (Janet) Imboden; 16 grandchildren and five great-grand grandchildren.

Roy was preceded in death by his wife, Henrietta F. Imboden; son, Kurt Imboden and brother, Donald Imboden.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, December 20, 2017 at 10:00 am with Father David Kime officiating at Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel, 600 West Old Ridge Road, Hobart, Indiana 46342. Burial will follow at St. Peter and Paul, Merrillville, Indiana.
