ROYCE F. HAMANN, age 90, of Union Township, passed away Thursday, August 25, 2011 at Life Care Center of the Willows in Valparaiso. He was a lifelong Union Township resident and retired farmer. He was also a rural route letter carrier with the United States Postal Service, his last route being the Star Route with the USPS.
Royce was preceded in death by his wife, Lorraine (neeVawter) Hamann, parents and siblings: Ellamae Chenowith, Everett Hamann, Eileen Halstead and Alice Franz.
He is survived by his sisters, Doris Wirick of Crown Point, Jean McCollam of Homewood, IL, sisters-in-law, Gee Gee (Don) Gemberling of LaPorte, IN and Carol (John) Czekalski of Wisconsin and loving nieces & nephews. In lieu of flowers donations to the Porter County Animal Shelter would be appreciated.
Visitation will be Sunday, August 28, 2011 from 2-4 & 6-8 pm at Rees Funeral Home, Winfield Chapel, 10909 Randolph St., Winfield (Crown Point), IN 46307. Funeral service will be held Monday, August 27, 2011 at 10:00 am at Rees Funeral Home, Winfield Chapel, with Rev. David Banning officiating. Burial will follow at Mosier Cemetery in Union Township.
