Ruben Mendoza, age 65, of Hobart, passed away Friday, February 1, 2019. He was born on March 23, 1953 in Luquillo, Puerto Rico. He grew up in Puerto Rico and became a minister there. In 2005, he came to live in Hobart. He will always be remembered as a dedicated and loving husband, father and grandfather.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Carmen Delia Rivera; sons, Carlos F. Mendoza, Carlos R. Mendoza; grandchildren, Karelys, Yairelys, Kiara and Carlos J. Mendoza, Zullianis Zambrana; step mother, Teddy Dones; brother, Carlos (Carmen Gragirene Quinones) Mendoza.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Esperanza Nieves and his father, Carlos Mendoza.

A funeral service for Ruben will take place at 10:00 am Thursday, February 7, 2019 at Defenders of Faith Center, 2600 Grand Blvd, Lake Station with Pastor Victor Concepcion, Jr. officiating. He will be laid to rest at Evergreen Memorial Park. Visitation will be held Wednesday, February 6, 2019 from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm at the church.
