Ruben Vasquez Jr.
Age 58, passed away September 5, 2014 at his home in Hobart. He was born on June 22, 1956 to the late Ruben and Mary (nee Gonzales) Vasquez Sr. in Gary, Indiana. Ruben was a member of Local Union 6103 at U.S. Steel in Portage. He will be remembered as a loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend.
Ruben is survived by his two daughters, Michele (Ricky) Reyna of Portage, Brittany Vasquez of Schererville; step-son, George (Stacy) Ferguson; brother, Ricky (Alicia) Vasquez; sister, Sylvia (Jose) Zuniga; brother-in-law, Marvin Frances; eight grandchildren, Jordan (Jasmine) Browning, Christian Browning, Tyler Browning, Kaleb Short, Myka and Teagen Kelly, Eliejah Lopez and Estrella Vera; nieces, nephews and other loving family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandson Isaiah Browning; great-granddaughter, Madison Browning; his parents and sister, Rita Frances.
A funeral service for Ruben will be held on Saturday, September 13, 2014 at 5:00 pm at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel, 5341 Central Avenue, Portage, Indiana. Cremation will follow. Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 13 with family hours from 10:00am- 12:00pm and public visitation from 12:00-5:00 pm at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel.
