Russell C. Beal, SR.
Age 90, passed away on Saturday, February 21, 2015 in Kilgore, Texas. He was born on May 13, 1924 in Wyoming, Illinois. He loved his guitar and particularly enjoyed Chet Atkins style of music and guitar playing. Russell wrote many articles to the Post Tribune and Times via "Letters to the Editor", and hand many of his articles printed in the newspapers. Russell was known to many as the "Tootsie Roll Man" or "The Candy Man" as he was always passing out candy to children and adults alike.
Russell is survived by his wife, Margaret Helen Beal; son, Russell C.(Brenda) Beal Jr.; grandchildren, David Sean (Julie) Beal, Suzanne Beal (Leslie) Whitney, Russell of Woodstock, CA., and Rusty (Angie) Beal of Ball Ground, GA.; great-grandchildren, Christopher Beal, Kaitlyn Whitney, Luke and Brady Whitney and Lili and Hensly Beal.
Russell is preceded in death by his daughter, Linda Beal.
A funeral service for Russell will be held on Friday, February 27, 2015 at 11:00 am at Rees Funeral Home, 5341 Central Ave, Portage 46368. Burial will follow at McCool Cemetery in Portage, Indiana.
