Russell Terry Janis

Russell Terry Janis, age 64, of Hobart passed away Sunday January 1, 2023, at St Mary Medical Center. Russell was born September 6, 1958, in Gary, Indiana to the late Leonard and Mary Jane (Shoue) Janis. He was a Heavy Equipment Operator that worked out of Operating Engineers Local Union #150. He was a member of Griffith Lodge #735 F&AM and the Orak Shrine Temple in Michigan City, as well as proudly serving his country as a United States Marine.

Russell is survived by his loving wife Sherry; two children, Mike (Jennifer) Janis of Lowell, and Melissa (Jason) Adcock of DeMotte; three grandchildren, Michael (Becky) Janis of Merrillville, Erik Janis of Dickinson, ND, Hailey Adcock of DeMotte, and one great grandson, Andrew; one brother, Leonard (Toni) Janis of Burns Harbor; three sisters-in-law, Grace Janis, Cheri Janis, and Melisa Janis; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Ronald, John, Albert Lee, and Michael; a sister; Barbara "Mary" Dunn, and grandchild; Nicholas Adcock.

Visitation will be from 4-8 pm Friday January 6, 2023, at Rees Funeral Home 600 W. Old Ridge Road Hobart, IN 46342. Funeral services will be 10 am Saturday at the Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Evergreen Memorial Park.
