Russell Lee Layhew, age 59 of Portage passed away Monday, January 18, 2021 at his home. He was born on August 30, 1961 in Gary, Indiana to the late Charles and Dorothy Layhew. Russell led a full life. He had traveled all over the world. He enjoyed cooking and raising his Pekingese dogs.

He is survived by his sister, Linda (Stanley, Jr.) Padlo; brother, Chuck (Susan) Layhew; brother-in-law, Tom Potts, Sr.; sister-in-law, Darlene Layhew; nieces and nephews, Tom Potts, Jr., Michael Potts, Brian Potts, Cortnie Lowe, Brandie Thiel, Cody Thiel, Abigail Layhew and Justin Layhew; many great nieces and great nephews; and of course his beloved Pekingese dogs.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Dorothy Layhew; brother, Lonnie Layhew; and sister, Denise Potts.

Per Family's wishes, there will be no services.  Cremation was entrusted to Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel, 5341 Central Ave., Portage. Russell will be buried in Windsor, Illinois.
