RUTH ANN FOSTER, age 64, of Portage, passed away Thursday, October 6, 2011 at the Horton VNA Hospice Center. She was a longtime Northwest Indiana resident and member of Suncrest Christian Church, Hobart Campus. Ruth Ann had been a pre-school teacher at South Haven Christian School and employed at Elinor's Dress Shop in Hobart. She enjoyed fishing, traveling, decorating, shopping, PHS sports, bunco club, her card ministry, singing and playing the piano. Ruthie especially enjoyed spending quality time with family and friends.
Ruth Ann is survived by her loving husband of 44 years, William "Bill" Foster, 3 daughters: Michelle (Jerry) Hays of Hebron, Julie (Randy) Hayden of Portage, Angela (JJ) McCoy of Leo, IN, mother, Dewala Niccum, sister, Connie (Mike) Owens of Gaston, IN, 5 grandchildren: Drew & Luke Hayden, Madi & Macy McCoy, and Rebekah Hays. She was preceded in death by her father, Donald Pugsley.
Visitation and funeral services will both be held Sunday, October 9, 2011 at Suncrest Christian Church, 625 Lake Street, Hobart, with the visitation from 2:00 pm until 6:00 pm. The funeral service will begin at 6:00 pm with Pastor Doug Gamble officiating. Burial will be Monday at 10 am at Graceland Cemetery in Valparaiso. Memorials are preferred to Freedom Voices or Suncrest Christian Church. Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel, Portage, is in charge of the arrangements.
