Ruth I. Mowry, age 89, of Hobart, passed away Tuesday, April 26, 2016. She was born on March 7, 1927 in Elkhart, Indiana to the late Harry and Bertha Matlock. She was a dedicated member of Community United Presbyterian Church in Lake Station. Ruth was also a past president of the Portage Chapter of the AARP.

Ruth is survived by her daughters, Bonnie J. Marks and Terrie L. Schultz; grandchildren, Lisa Schultz, Richard (Kim) Marks; great grandchildren, Katelyn and Hailey.

She is preceded in death by her husband, William F. Mowry; granddaughter, Jennifer Schultz; son in law, Ray Schultz; brother, Milton Matlock; sisters, Evelyn Frost and Opal M. Fresse. A funeral service for Ruth will take place Friday, April 29, 2016 at 12:00 pm at Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel, 600 West Old Ridge Road, Hobart, Indiana with Rev. Calvin D. Hawkins officiating. She will be laid to rest at Calumet Park Cemetery in Merrillville. Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 28, 2016 from 2:00 pm until 8:00 pm at the funeral home.
