Ruth Prather, age 86, of Crown Point, passed away Sunday, October 26, 2014. She was born on September 19, 1928 in Owsley County, Kentucky to the late Andy and Sally Hall. Ruth was an avid racehorse owner for over twenty years and enjoyed making jockey silks. Later on in life, she worked at Sam's Club as a greeter and enjoyed her job immensely.

Ruth is survived by her beloved husband, William Prather Jr.; sons, Timothy (Sandy) Anthony, Edward (Margie) Hodge, Virgil (Lorrie) Hodge; daughters, Shirley (Glenn) Schifferer and Wanda Anthony; grandchildren, Brian, Kelly, Bess, Cindy, Ben, Kevin, Eric, Whitney, Mark, Joshua, Adam, Stephanie and Tyler; 5 great grandchildren.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, Andy and Sally Hall; grandsons, David Hodge and Christopher Leitner; brothers, Hubert and Willard Hall. Memorial contributions in Ruth's name may be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children, 2211 North Oak Park Ave. Chicago, IL 60707.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Friday, October 31, 2014 at 11:00 am with visitation from 10:00 am until the time of service at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 7667 E. 109th Ave. Crown Point. Rev. Thomas E. Mischler will officiate. Cremation will follow services. Visitation will be held Thursday October 30, 2014 from 2:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Rees Funeral Home, Winfield Chapel, 10909 Randolph St., Crown Point, IN 46307 with a prayer service at 7:00 pm.
