Ruth E West

Age 91, passed away Tuesday, January 9, 2018 at Brentwood Senior Living in Hobart, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on November 16, 1926 to the late Albert and Clara Nordmeyer in Chebanse, Illinois. She was a member of Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church and was a past member of the Women's group Mary Martha. Ruth was an avid gardener, homemaker, and most of all, a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She cherished her family, making every gathering and holiday memorable for everyone. She worked tirelessly to insure everyone felt loved, always giving of herself and never asking for anything. Her love and presence will be felt by all that knew her.

Ruth is survived by her six loving children; Marla Martin, Gregory West, Brian West, Kendall (Lynn) West, Gerald (Valerie) West and Caroline (Steve) Hartford; 18 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; sister, Rita Baker and many other loving family members and friends.

Ruth was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 56 years, Marvin W. West, her parents and seven siblings.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church.

Funeral Services for Ruth will 10:00 am Saturday, January 13, 2018 at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, 6240 Grand Blvd., Hobart with Rev. Frederic Lams officiating. With additional visitation from 9:00 am until time of service at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church.  Burial will follow at Graceland Cemetery in Valparaiso.
