Sally Wishmeyer

Sally Wishmeyer, age 92, of Valparaiso, passed away Friday, May 8, 2026. She was born on April 10, 1934, in Gary, Indiana to the late Jesus and Micaela (nee Rodriguez) Contreraz. Sally was a 1952 graduate of Lew Wallace High School and retired from Kemper Insurance after 37 years of dedicated service as a marketing manager. Sally was the glue and foundation of her family and served as an unwavering support system for everyone she loved. She lived with her daughter’s family while her grandchildren were growing up, helping create a home filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. Her great grandchildren would often beg to go see Nonee just to spend time with her, a true reflection of the special bond they shared. Her family remains deeply grateful for the many years they were blessed to have with her and for the wonderful trips they enjoyed together throughout the American West, including Yellowstone, Colorado, Albuquerque and the Chief Joseph Scenic Highway. Sally especially loved attending the Hot Air Balloon Festival in Albuquerque, which became one of her favorite memories. Her kindness, strength, and loving presence will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her daughter, Tess (James) Marshall; two granddaughters, Jennifer Marshall and Tessa (John) Troutman; great-grandsons, Miles and Theo Troutman; her brother, Robert (Lydia) Contreraz; and many other loving family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her son, Conrad Perez; three sisters, Henrietta Carlos, Gloria Wolfe and Phyllis Hicks; and her brother, Roy Contreraz.

Per Sally’s wishes, no services will be held. Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel and Cremation Services, 5341 Central Ave., Portage, Indiana 46368, have been entrusted with cremation services. (219) 762-3013. Online condolences may be shared with the family at www.reesfuneralhomes.com
