Samuel Cantoni, age 91, of Lake Station passed away Friday, October 23, 2015 at VNA Hospice in Valparaiso surrounded by his loving family. Sam was born May 23, 1924 in Black Diamond, PA to the late Bernard and Mary (nee Lashen) Cantoni. On April 25, 1987, Sam married his love, Bobbie, in Lake Station, Indiana. Sam was a retired Crane Repairman at U.S Steel. He was a member of the Church of Christ in Hobart, Indiana and a life member of American Legion Post #100. He proudly served in the United States Navy. He was an avid gardener and a Jack of all trades. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great grandfather and friend.
Sam is survived by his wife Bobbie; two sons, Dareld (Sue) Davis, Terry (Virginia) Davis; three daughters, Mary (Donald) Vogel, Bobbie Lynn Moyers, Connie (Donald) Wells; 13 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter and many other loving family members and friends.
Sam was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Bernard Cantoni; two grandsons Jeremy Lyles and Daniel Davis and granddaughter, Angelica Rodriguez.
In lieu of flowers donations to the VNA Hospice of Valparaiso would be appreciated.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, October 27, 2015 at 10 am at Rees Funeral Home, 600 W. Old Ridge Road, Hobart, Indiana 46342 with Pastor Jerry Cleek officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday, October 26, 2015 from 2:00-8:00 p.m. at Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel.
