Sarah E. Durbin, age 79, of Lake Station, passed away at home on Wednesday, July 5, 2017. She was born in Fayette County, Pennsylvania on June 18, 1938 to the late Charles and Dela Mae (nee Sanner) Knopsnider. Sarah had a passion for planting flowers.

Sarah is survived by son, John (Marsha) Durbin, Jr.; daughters, Mary, Naomi; grandchildren, Joshua, Nathaniel, Christopher, Johannah; great and grandchildren, Janna, Holly, Corrie, Emily, Abigail, Allison.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, John Durbin, Sr.; infant son, Mike Durbin; great grandson, Joseph; brother, James Knopsnider; sisters, Shirley Dewitt, Velma; and her parents.

A funeral service for Sarah will take place on Wednesday, July 12, 2017 at 10:00 am at Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel, 600 W. Old Ridge Road, Hobart, IN 46342 with Pastor Bob Burton officiating. She will be laid to rest at Calumet Park Cemetery in Merrillville. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 11, 2017 from 2-8 pm at the funeral home. For more information, please call 219-942-2109.
