Scott J. Tokach, age 59 of Crown Point passed away Friday, June 27, 2025. He was born on July 31, 1965, in Donora, Pennsylvania to the late Joseph and Sylvia Tokach. For the past two years, Scott proudly served as the Resource Officer for the School City of Whiting.  Prior to this, Scott was the director of Safety for NEO, Scott was the District Director of Transportation for Portage Township Schools and the District Director of Safety for Lake Station Community Schools. Also, Scott was a retired Assistant Chief of Police from the Lowell, Indiana Police Department with 25 years of service. He obtained a Bachelor of Science in Law Enforcement Management and a Master of Science in Public Safety Administration from Calumet College of St. Joseph in Whiting, Indiana. Scott had a strong belief in belonging to public and private organizations, which included Knights of Columbus, Fraternal Order of Police, Indiana Law Enforcement Academy Associates, Loyal Order of the Moose, and he served on numerous administrative boards. Scott firmly believed that one of the most challenging and rewarding careers is working closely with school children to make a positive significant difference in their everyday lives. Scott understood, school, safety and security is not a sometimes thing; It's an all the time thing!

Scott is survived by his brother, Stacey (Kim) Tokach of Indianapolis; nieces, Lauren Tokach, and Erin Tokach.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Sylvia Tokach.

A chapel service will take place Tuesday, July 8, 2025 at 1:15 pm. The service is directly at Calvary Cemetery, 2701 Willowdale Road, Portage, where he will also be laid to rest.
