Shannon Nichole Jeffries, age 48, of Portage was carried to heaven while surrounded by her three loving boys, mother and family Tuesday, June 6, 2023. She was born on November 6, 1974, in Valparaiso to William Nelson and Sandra Chandler. After graduating from Chesterton High School, she joined the United States Navy. She loved nature and enjoyed taking walks on the beach. Above all she loved her family and cherished the time she spent with her sons and grandchildren. She will always be remembered for her strength of character and her exceptional cooking and baking skills.

She is survived by her sons, Alexander (Kendra) Jeffries, Zachary Jeffries, Sebastian Jeffries; grandchildren, Wesley, Bryce, Lennox and Adilynn; mother, Sandra Chandler; father, William Irving (Marsha) Nelson; brother, Christopher Nelson; sisters, Shawnah (Gus) Gutierrez, Connie Nelson; uncle, Richard Risk; nieces, Alexia, Brianna, Aniyah, Arybella; and nephew, Enzo.

She was preceded in death by her grandma Dot; uncle, John Risk; niece, Hailey Nelson and cousin, Christy Risk. Memorial contributions in Shannon's name may be made to the America Cancer Society, 130 Red Coach Drive Mishawaka, IN 46545.

A funeral service for Shannon will take place Sunday, June 11, 2023, at 2:00 pm at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel, 5341 Central Ave., Portage.
