Sharon Lee Mitckess, age 73, of Valparaiso, passed away Saturday, October 31, 2015. She was born on September 5, 1942 in Gary, Indiana to the late Samuel Douthitt and Mary Jean Pease. On October 21, 1961, she married the love of her life, Robert Mitckess. In her free time, she enjoyed doing cross stitch, crocheting, needlepoint and crossword puzzles. Sharon loved getting a good deal using coupons. Together with her sister, Sharon served for many years as a Girl Scout leader even overseeing the construction of a teepee. She will always be remembered as a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and friend to those who love her.

Sharon is survived by her beloved husband of 54 years, Robert Mitckess; daughters: Cathy Mitckess, Lisa (Ron) Jobe, Jennifer (Craig) Kaiser; grandchildren: Robert (fiancée Dani McKay) Migoski, Tripp Fuller, Luke Fuller, Noah Kaiser.

She is preceded in death by her parents: Samuel Douthitt and Mary Jean Pease; and one sister: Linda Hall. Memorial contributions in Sharon's name may be made to the American Lung Association, 115 West Washington Street, Suite 1180-South, Indianapolis, IN 46204.

Visitation for Sharon will be held Tuesday, November 3, 2015 from 2:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel, 5341 Central Avenue, Portage, Indiana.
