SHARON LEE MUMAUGH Hobart, IN. Sharon Lee Mumaugh, age 63 years, was relieved from her chronic pain and multiple medical issues on Friday, November 23, 2012. She graduated from Indiana State University, Terre Haute, Indiana and Northwest High School, Indianapolis, Indiana. Sharon had extensive experience in many fields: she worked for Huber, Hunt and Nichols in Indianapolis; at the Center for Judicial Education in Indianapolis; for numerous lawyers and contractors in Indianapolis before returning to ISU and getting her teaching license. She enjoyed teaching at Merrillville High School in Merrillville, IN for a year. Sharon returned to Indianapolis to pursue a career in post-secondary education at ITT Technical Institute in Indianapolis and in Tampa, FL. She and her son returned to Northwest Indiana in 1992 (leaving as Hurricane Andrew hit the Tampa area.) Sharon was comptroller for Joyce Sportswear in Gary, IN before returning to post-secondary education in Merrillville/Hammond with Sawyer/Kaplan Higher Education from which she retired.
Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Mary Lou Mumaugh (Greenwood, IN); paternal grandparents, Edna and Harry Mumaugh (Indianapolis, IN); maternal grandparents, Beatrice and John R. Young (Mooresville, IN); Uncle Harry Mumaugh (Indianapolis, IN); Aunt Laurann Clouse (Crawfordsville, IN); Uncle, Victor Young (Martinsville, IN.)
She is survived by her beloved son, Bryan (Amy) Mumaugh; loves-of-her-life grandchildren: Jack, Grace, Kathryn, Mary, and Rachel. She is also survived by two sisters: "twin" Shirley Ann Mumaugh (Hobart, IN); and "baby sister" Jackie (Randall) Griffin (Greenfield, IN). Also surviving are her loving nieces, Claire and Mae Griffin of Greenfield, IN. Sharon was also blessed to be surrounded by "family-who-chose-her" including: the entire Lach family (Hobart, IN) especially "2nd Mom," Vickie and "like-a-sister" Cynthia Lach. Lin Hanson has been instrumental in making her days more comfortable.
Sharon was a member of Assumption, BVM Catholic Church in Hobart, Indiana. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am Wednesday November 28, 2012 at Assumption, BVM Catholic Church 3530 Illinois Street Hobart, Indiana with Father Lourdu Pasala officiating and beginning with 9:30 am prayers at Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel 600 W. Old Ridge Road Hobart, IN 46342. Cremation will follow her Mass. Visitation will be from 4-8 pm Tuesday with a 4:00 pm prayer service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to an organization of your choice.
