Sharon Jean Schmitt

Sharon Jean Schmitt went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on March 10, 2026, at the age of 91. Sharon was born on March 5, 1935, to Ruby and George Vittetoe, in Montpelier, Ohio. She had eight siblings, all of whom preceded her in death. Sharon was a devoted member of the Portage Grace Church of the Nazarene and was an active member of the community.

Sharon is survived by her three children: Sandra K. Schmitt, Thomas E. Schmitt, and Richard W. Schmitt; her four grandchildren: Michelle L. Schroeder (husband - William), Paul M. Schmitt (wife – Celenia), Richard T. Schmitt (wife – Tasha), and Franklin T. Schmitt (wife – Paige); her ten great grandchildren: Taylor Schroeder, Samantha Schroeder, William Schroeder, Tatyana Schmitt, Andrew Schmitt, Aden Schmitt, Brooke Schmitt, Leo Schmitt, Ruby Prohaska, and Lindsey Prohaska; and her three great-great grandchildren: Layla Schroeder, Alayna Schroeder, and Barrett Schroeder. Sharon was preceded in death by her daughter, Shirley Schmitt, and her grandson, William Prohaska.

A burial of cremains will take place at a later date in Ohio. Cremation was entrusted to Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel. Online condolences may be shared with the family at www.reesfuneralhomes.com.
